Crikey! Scientists Uncover Giant New ‘Croc-Munching’ Dinosaur in Argentina! 🦖

Hello, prehistoric pals! Get ready for some absolutely roarsome news from the world of palaeontology! A fantastic discovery has just been made in the dusty plains of Patagonia, Argentina: the bones of a brand new dinosaur species, and it’s a big one!

The newly named dinosaur, Joaquinraptor casali, was an immense creature, thought to be around 23 feet long—that’s nearly the size of a double-decker bus! It belonged to a mysterious and fearsome group called the megaraptorans, famous for their stretchy skulls and, most notably, their huge, powerful claws. Imagine those coming for a visit to your local school hall!

A Prehistoric Mealtime Mystery! 🦴

What makes Joaquinraptor casali even more exciting is a surprising clue found pressed right against its jaws: the bone of an ancient relative of crocodiles! Scientists believe this reveals a fascinating glimpse into the raptor’s diet, earning it the unofficial nickname of a ‘Croc-Muncher’—a true apex predator from around 66–70 million years ago. Imagine the stories we can tell about that! This skeleton is also a major find as it’s one of the most complete skeletons of a megaraptoran ever discovered, helping to fill a huge gap in the dinosaur family tree.

Bring the Discovery to Your School!

Doesn’t this sound like a brilliant story for your children to learn about? The thrill of discovery, the size of the animal, and the mystery of what it ate—it’s all part of the exciting world we cover!

At Travelling Natural History, we believe the best way to learn about dinosaurs, the Ice Age, and the Stone Age is to get hands-on with the evidence! We don’t just talk about these incredible creatures; we bring genuine and replica fossils, artefacts, and jaw-dropping stories right to your school or event.

We connect the dots between scientists digging in Argentina and the fascinating natural history we explore in our workshops. Whether it’s the sheer size of the dinosaur or the story of how fossils reveal a creature’s last meal, our programmes turn learning into an unforgettable adventure for all ages.
